Favorite Finds December Round Up

It’s that time of the month! The time to share some of my favorite finds for the month. This time it is my favorite finds December round up. If you’d like to catch up on some of my other favorites, check out my posts for September and November. This month I’m going to share with you some of my family’s favorite gifts that we received for Christmas!

Favorite Finds December Round Up

First a little tip for you. My entire family (immediate family, parents, and siblings) uses an app called Giftster. It’s similar to creating an Amazon wish list, but better in my opinion. And no, I don’t receive any commission or anything for you signing up for this app. It’s just something my family loves to use.

You create your list (public or private), and you can add items from any website on your wish list. Create groups to add your family and friends, and you can easily see each others’ lists for Christmas and birthdays. Purchase something from the list? Great! Mark it as purchased to avoid getting doubles. Well… usually.

Tile

Instead of the “man of the hour”, this ended up being the “gift of the hour”. My husband had it on his Christmas list, and while he had several other items on his list, this one was the go-to gift. We ended up with 6 Tiles! (Note: when people to see that an item has already been purchased.) While we did return some, we also kept some.

A Tile is exactly what it sounds like. A small tile (like 1.5″ x 1.5″) with a key ring that can be placed on your key ring, your purse, wallet, and other important items. I’m not gonna lie, I have thought about putting one on a necklace chain and making my daughter where it when she goes out to play with her friends.

If you’re a person that is always misplacing your things (which my husband is) then the Tile is for you. Whatever you have the tile on, if you have misplaced it, you can use your phone to make the Tile ring and help you find your lost item. What?! What if you can’t find your phone? How do you put a Tile on your phone? Well, you don’t have to. You do have to locate one of your tiles, double press the Tile button in the middle and your phone will ring! Of course, you’re phone can’t be on silent. 🙂

Narwhal Coffee Cup

Isn’t this just the cutest thing ever?! Seriously, it makes me so happy every time I use it. And I’m not even a coffee drinker! But I do like a good cup of hot cocoa or chai tea. I had this cup on my list as an example of a “cute coffee cup” as I was wanting a few to extra special cute or pretty ones to have at home. My sister ended up buying this exact one for me, and I love it even more than I thought I did when I added it to my list! Not much more to say than, it’s so cute! Oh, and you need one too.

Favorite Finds for the Kids

Girl Gifts Age 6-9

Now on to some of the favorites for the kids. My youngest daughter, age 7 is a gymnast, so some of these are a bit specific to her personal passion. Some of her favorite gifts this Christmas included a gymnastics bar, a slime kit, paint by sticker book, roller blades, and of course a kid’s makeup set.

The gymnastics bar was at the top of her list for favorites, as it’s the only thing she asked for pretty much right up until Christmas.

Slime may not be your thing, but we’ve never had a big issue with it in our house, and she absolutely loves making it, so if I’m going to spend money on it, Christmas is the perfect time. I found this big (but affordable) Unicorn Slime Kit with all the ingredients needed to make slime, plus a bunch of fun extras like scents, beads, foam pieces and glitter. I understand that screams unwanted mess for some, but for us it works, and she loves it.

I’m sure you all have seen these before, but I just recently discovered these Paint by Sticker books. I personally think they should be called Sticker by Number, but hey, I didn’t make them. I thought they would be something my daughter would like, especially for all that car time we have driving too and from gymnastics. And, I was right. She ended up getting 2 different ones from family and is already loving them. These would be great for a road trip.

The rollerblades were another big ask from my daughter that she got from her grandparents. Nothing new in terms of gifts for kids, but I have to admit these specific skates are pretty cool looking. And, of course they keep her active (which she’s never actually had a problem with, quite the opposite in fact). They are also adjustable to 4 different sizes, which is a must in my opinion for skates.

And, what little girls doesn’t love some makeup? Okay, I’m sure there are some, but my daughter is not one of them. This is a fun little set because it looks pretty real and comes with a makeup bag but is still washable play makeup.

Boy Gifts Age 8-11

My son is 10 and is into Pokemon, video games, Beyblades and the like. Some of his favorite gifts this year included a retro handheld game console which I share in my November post. Some other favorites include a Beyblade battling stadium, a Roblox Coding for Kids program, and Dragamonz which I just happened upon on a major discount, and it ended up being a huge hit.

There are a lot of Beyblade stadiums out there. This is one his grandparents found, and I have to say it is pretty awesome. It’s not your typical open battling stadium but a battle tower with multiple levels. If you don’t know what Beyblades are, they are in essence fancy tops that you spin with a launcher against another and see who wins.

As our son loves video games, we wanted to find something constructive for him to put his efforts towards rather than only playing the games (or worse, watching others play them on YouTube). So, we went for a coding program. It’s easy to find coding books, but not so easy to find actual programs. This is a Roblox Coding software for kids that teaches them step by step how to code their very own games! Pretty cool right?!

And the Dragamonz. I had no idea what I was actually buying when I picked it up as an inexpensive extra for my son to open. We got it, he opened it, and he’s in love. It’s basically a boys’ mash up version of Pokemon and Hatchimals. Each set comes with 3 dragons in plastic eggs that you “hatch” the same way as you do a Hatchimal. Then it also comes with dragon cards similar to Pokemon cards that have points and special effects. You battle with the cards also similar to Pokemon. I don’t really understand how it all works, but like I said, my son is a Pokemon fan, and he knows exactly how it works. So big hit with the kid, small hit on the wallet.

Girl Gifts Age 12-14

My oldest daughter had been wanting a retro style bike with a basket on the front for a while now, and I’m so glad we were able to get her one. It was a Huffy bike that we were able to pick up second-hand. We have a friend that fixed up the bike and made it gorgeous, and I grabbed a whicker basket to add to the front. Take a look at this beauty!

A few other favorites include a sherpa lined hoodie, and all sorts of goodies from Bath and Body Works.

And honorable mention goes to a gift she received last year that is still a favorite. I think it’s something fun for a teen, and it won’t break the bank. And that is a mini refrigerator. She has the cutest little pink one. It can hold 4-8 soda cans or water bottles, or whatever drink your teen prefers. Like I said, just something a little fun for them to have in their room.

Favorite Finds Honorable Mention

And the honorable mention goes to the HOVERBOARD. I’d seen a hoverboard before and kind of new what it was but hadn’t really seen it in action much. The kiddos cousins received hover boards for Christmas, and we spent the better part of Christmas week with them. There was lots of hoverboard action going on, and all three of my kids are IN LOVE. Of course, now this is on the top of each of their lists.

To be honest, they were all pretty darn amazing using them. If my youngest ever gets one I swear she will never walk again! So, maybe next year. If you have a child with a birthday coming up, this may be something you’d want to look into. I have decided that if I found one at a great price I might go ahead and grab one for them all to share.
