Nadine West Month 1 Review

Okay you all, I am so excited about this post. I am doing this differently than I’ve done any other post before. This is sort of a “live” post. What I mean by that is I am writing this post step by step as it is happening so you can know my true thoughts and feelings. I won’t be editing it besides the grammar edits. This is my Nadine West Month 1 Review, my first package ever.

What is Nadine West?

First, I should probably explain, what is Nadine West? There’s a good chance that many of you have never heard of this company. I had never heard of it until a couple weeks ago. Nadine West is a stylist subscription service (think Stitch Fix). You have a personal stylist that chooses 5-7 items for you each month (or bi-weekly if you so choose), based on your style quiz. You have a specified amount of time to try on the items. Keep what you want and return what you don’t. You only get charged for the items you keep

Why Nadine West?

So, why did I choose Nadine West? Well, I have wanted to try a style subscription service for quite some time, but the monthly charge of $20 feels a little to steep for me as well as the price point of the clothing. I may still give one of those other companies a try some time, we’ll see. I discovered Nadine West from a Facebook ad. When it comes to retail products I tend to be a little leery of those ads. However, I read most of the comments and did a little searching, and it definitely seemed legit and like it was at least worth giving it a try.

Another factor, and the main one, was price point. The monthly subscription cost is $9.95. That felt similar to any other monthly subscription service like Netflix, Hulu, Spotify, etc. So, if I ended up not liking anything in my package and sending it all back, the subscription cost still felt doable. If you choose to keep any items, the $9.95 goes as a credit towards those items. If you send it all back, it is what it is, a cost for the monthly subscription. Also, the price point of the clothing they say is $10-$30. This is a price point I am much more comfortable with, except for specific clothing and shoe items which I would not receive from any subscription service anyway.

And best of all, I received free shipping on my first package, so why not give it a try! You can receive free shipping on your first package PLUS a $25 credit towards your first purchase by clicking here. That’s an even better deal than what I received! I will also receive a product credit if you decide to place an order.

My Prediction

Soon I will open the package and share with you all the details, but first, my prediction of how this first bag will go.

  • I will not like all of the items in the package, if any.
  • I will get more jewelry and/or accessories than I would have liked.
  • I will end up with a pair of pants, even though I specified in the stylist notes that I don’t want any pants unless they carry them in long length (which I doubt they do).
  • I will feel compelled to keep at least one item, even if I don’t love it, so that I don’t waste my $10.
  • Since I received this package for free, I don’t have any credit to use towards my items, so anything I choose to keep I will be charged full price.
  • Even if I choose to send everything back, they will probably charge me $9.95 at that point (I do not know this for a fact, just my guess). Thus, see #4 above, I will feel compelled to keep something to make my subscription cost worth it! 🙂
  • I will not base my decision on whether or not to continue this subscription off of only one package. I believe it will take a few tries for my stylist to “get to know me”. Just hopefully it’s not too many!

Arrival

Pretty Pink Package! Nadine West Month 1 Review

Okay, now onto the details. I happened to walk to the mailbox today (Friday). We live in one of those communities that has all the lock box type mailboxes in one location near the entrance to the area. I actually forgot my package was coming and had just received notification of it being sent on Wednesday so wasn’t expecting it quite so quickly. I opened my box and there was this shiny pink package waiting for me. I’m telling you, it felt like Christmas!

I was excited the entire way home and couldn’t wait to get back and open my package to see what was inside. I knew I wanted to share my experience with you because, well, it’s helpful when making your decisions. Then I got this idea on my walk home to do just what I am doing now, this live reveal. So, instead of opening my package right away when I got home, I sat down to start this post, and it has been sitting next to me haunting me ever since! And to top it off, I’m home with just my youngest, so writing this much of my post has taken me a total of three hours!!!

The Reveal

Now, on to the reveal! This is my Nadine West month 1 review. I wish you could feel my excitement as I sit here opening this. Even knowing I probably won’t care for everything in the package. It’s like Christmas. There’s a good chance you won’t be completely in love with every gift you receive, but you still get “that feeling”. It’s the most wonderful time of the year!

My first thoughts before trying anything on:

  • Two pieces of jewelry is not too bad.
  • I did get pants, but one is leggings and the other I believe is more like footless tights or something I would wear under a dress, so it might not be a total loss.
  • The shirt feels super soft.
  • I got a dress! I love dresses, and I don’t even think I told my stylist.

Item 1: Navy Leggings

I liked these leggings a lot more than I thought I might. You see, I’m not really a wear-leggings-outside-the-house kind of gal, unless they are under a dress, mostly in the winter. I actually really like how these leggings fit. They feel like the would stay up, and I wouldn’t have to keep pulling them up and adjusting them all day. However, at the very bottom they seem like they are meant for a person that has larger ankles than me, and I didn’t really like how that part fit my ankle. I chose to try it on with a nicer top. With the detailing at the bottom they seem like a little nicer leggings as opposed to something you’d work out in. I know a lot of workout leggings have detail on them, I don’t know, it’s just the style of leggings it feels like to me.

Since I would only wear these leggings to work out in at home (and probably not even then because I prefer capri leggings for working out), and I don’t like the ankle part, these leggings will be going back. However, if you were to try a package and you love to wear leggings, I do think these are a cute pair, and like I said would stay up well. The price point is $21.19 on this exact pair. That seems like a decent price if it’s something you love.

Item 2: Red Shirt

Just I as suspected, this shirt is SUPER COMFORTABLE. It’s VERY soft. Sometimes this type of material will show a bra or underwear line just because of the way the fabric lays, but this shirt doesn’t. This shirt is spot on for me. It’s the exact type of shirt I love. Crazy soft, and it has the longer front and back which I prefer.

Now, to keep it or not? I’m going to have to take a couple of days to decide that. I do love how the shirt fits and feels. It would definitely be a go-to for me. I even like the red color and don’t have much of that in my closet. The only thing holding me up at this point is the price tag. At $24.49 it is the highest priced item in my bag. While this is not a ridiculous amount, it is more than I tend to spend on a top. I’ll pay good money for a dress, pants or shoes that I love. But, when it comes to shirts, since there are so many out there, I tend to be a bargain shopper. So I will have to think about it and see if I love it enough to keep.

Item 3: Bracelet

This bracelet is a stretchy bracelet. If I’m going to wear a bracelet, that’s the type I prefer to wear. They’re just so easy to get on and off. And, you can’t even tell that it’s a stretchy bracelet when it’s on. This bracelet reminds me of the spoon jewelry they make out of antique spoons. It’s called “Spoonful of Love”, so I think that’s what they were going for. This is a nice heavy piece of jewelry. Not heavy enough that it’s uncomfortable to wear, but heavy enough that it’s not a “cheapy” piece of jewelry.

Now, with that said. I do like this bracelet, however, I hardly ever wear bracelets. If I didn’t have very many I might keep this one because I like it and try to wear bracelets more often. However, I actually own several bracelets and hardly ever wear them. I like the ones I have, it’s just not something I wear often. So, this bracelet will be headed back.

Item 4: Purple Dress

Win, win, win = a win? I would say yes! As I mentioned, I like dresses, and this one did not disappoint. I actually expected to not like it because it’s long sleeved, and having long arms and long sleeves doesn’t always work out. This dress is a win for me in four areas. Comfort, the sleeves are long enough for me, the length is perfect for me, and… it has pockets! Again, being a tall girl, I sometimes have difficulty in the dress/skirt length area. Depending on how I am standing, this dress hits me mid-knee or just below.

So, this dress is for sure a keeper. At $20.99 that’s a pretty decent price for any dress. The only thing that is a little downer is that it’s long sleeved, and we are heading into summer, but I can be patient. And, I am in need of one or two more long sleeved dresses, so this will be perfect. If there is a place to leave notes with the reviews of my package I will mention no more long sleeves during the summer months.

Item 5: Earrings

These are a nice pair of earrings, nothing particularly wrong with them, but I didn’t feel the need to try them on. They are what they are without seeing them on my ears. I own A LOT of earrings, and at the price point of $12.99, I don’t feel that these are something I need to keep. They’re a decent staple to have in your wardrobe if you don’t have anything like it but not something I need. If I’m going to keep a pair of earrings, they are either going to need to wow me, or fulfill a specific type of earring I don’t already have and am looking for.

Item 6: Compression Leggings

At first I thought these were thick footless tights or something similar, so I put them on with my dress to snap a quick picture. However, they just didn’t seem quite right. I kept looking at them with the dress and then finally realized there was a sheen to them. These are definitely not tights or regular leggings. I thought perhaps they’re compression leggings. I took them off before trying them on with shorts because I had to go fix lunch for my daughter. Lo and behold, the product tag says Active Basic!

Considering I didn’t even know what these were, I don’t think they’re a necessity to add to my wardrobe. 🙂 I need to up my exercise game a little more before I invest in some of these. However, if you’re in need of a decent basic compression legging, these might be something you would decide to keep. They fit well, stayed up well, and with a price tag of $11.99 that’s a decent buy.

Summary

Nadine West Month 1 Review. All in all, I was more pleased with this package than I expected. I’m looking forward to giving it a try for a few more months. I want to see what they come up with for me and if the packages change to fit my style better each time. For this package I am definitely keeping the dress. The verdict is still out on the shirt. It is just SO COMFY! While I still had it on, my daughter was having a meltdown, snotty nose and all, and I was secretly hoping she would get snot all over the shirt so my decision would be made for me and I would have to keep the shirt!

As for my initial thoughts on the service itself. This very first experience was positive for me. If you’ve ever wanted to try a stylist subscription service, I would say go ahead and give this one a try. Especially since it’s not a huge financial risk. Worst case scenario you decide to cancel. If you’re in need of some new clothes but don’t have time to get to the store, give this company a try. If you hate shopping for clothes but could use some new ones, give this a try. At least you’ll be able to try on the clothes in the comfort of your own home.

If you would like to try your first Nadine West package for free, don’t forget you can receive free shipping on your first package PLUS a $10 credit towards your first purchase by clicking here. I will also receive a product credit if you decide to place an order.

  1. Enjoyed your “play by play” on the package. Also could relate to many of the things you said- sleeve length, tall girl issues, etc. I tried a subscription service last year- loved the clothes but felt most prices were too high. If I try agsin it will ne Nadine West for sure. (Not able to correct my typos-sorry!)

  2. I have never tried a styling subscription like this before but I would not mind checking them out. I can totally relate the “Christmas Feel” when receiving a package lol
I think the dress looks really cute on you and I loved the bracelet too.

    1. It is just so comfortable! I love the ease of being able to throw a dress on in a matter of seconds and voila, a fabulous outfit without a lot of work!
