Nadine West Review

This is my second month receiving a clothing subscription box from Nadine West. I’m sharing my review of this second month shipment below. All opinions in this review are my own, those of a paying customer and busy mom! First, let’s talk about this company a bit, and then it’s on to my personal Nadine West Review.

What is Nadine West

Nadine West is a clothing subscription company that sells women’s clothes. They send you a package with a variety of clothing and jewelry options to try on in the comfort of your own home. Their message is “discover a fashion revolution with affordable outfits delivered straight to your doorstep”. Let’s read on to see if they fulfill their mission.

How does Nadine West’s subscription service work?

Styling Quiz

The first thing you’ll do when you get to their website is fill out a styling quiz. This styling quiz is going to let them know what styles you prefer, what colors you like (and dislike), your body shape, etc. This helps them choose clothes they think you will enjoy.

Once you’ve completed the styling quiz and entered your payment information (don’t worry, your first delivery gets free shipping plus a $25 credit when you sign up here), their stylists will get to work. One of their stylists puts together a curated package full of fashionable pieces they think you’ll love, and it’s shipped straight to your door.

Keep what you love, send back what you don’t

Once you receive your shipment you’ll have time to try on the pieces they sent. Make sure you take a look at the packing slip to see the return deadline for any items you don’t want to keep (and don’t want to pay for). The packing slip will also have the prices for each item. Keep what you love, send back what you don’t. You are only charged for the items you keep, as long as your package has been returned in the mail by the deadline. They do not have to receive your package by the deadline, it just has to be scanned by the mail service by the deadline.

Styling fee

You can choose to receive a new curated shipment every 2 or 4 weeks. You will be charged a $9.95 styling fee for each shipment as well as the cost of any items you keep. The nice thing is that the styling fee of $9.95 is applied as credit towards any items you decide to keep. If you don’t keep any items you are still charged the styling fee. I would highly suggest you leave a review on your items after every package so your stylist can see what you loved and what you didn’t. You can do that by logging into your account and navigating to your shipment history.

Are Nadine West clothes good?

I would describe them as boutique style clothing. It’s not top of the line quality, but it’s definitely not trash either. At the time of writing this update to this post I’ve had some of my pieces from Nadine West for 4 years now, and they’re still going strong. One thing that I happen to love is the majority of the clothing items they send me are buttery soft. I’m a sucker for comfortable and stylish clothes. There are time I do receive items I think the price is too high for the quality of the piece. But for those I choose to keep, I give it two thumbs up!

My personal Nadine West Review

This specific review below is from the second month of receiving a clothing subscription from Nadine West. But since my initial month 2 review, I continued receiving more shipments. You can read about some of those reviews here and see photos of the clothes and jewelry I received. I took a break for a while, and now I’ve started my clothing subscription service through Nadine West again.

After all the clothing subscription deliveries I have received, I will sum up my personal Nadine West review with some pros and cons. For more a more detailed review from me, keep reading below and check out my other reviews mentioned above.

Pros
  • Clothes are buttery soft
  • Customer service is quick to respond and very helpful
  • Prices are lower than other clothing subscription services
Cons
  • Only shipment options are every 2 or 4 weeks
  • Clothing prices seem to be continuously rising
  • Jewelry is very plain and simple

I’ve seen some bad Nadine West reviews

I’ve seen some bad Nadine West reviews as well. Mostly negative comments. You can see some from readers of this post honestly. I noticed the first negative comments after I had already signed up for my first free styling subscription box. I began to look into it more and even looked up the company on Better Business Bureau. They did not have the best rating on that site to be honest. However, I as I looked into every single claim that was made against them on BBB, they had already responded to and resolved every single one of the claims.

It seems that most negative reviews or comments of the brand are peoples’ experiences from several years ago. Perhaps when the company was first starting out. Also, upon looking into most of the complaints, people were complaining that their checking account had been charged for the full amount of a shipment. However, they had not returned their clothes they did not want to keep before the deadline on the packing slip. Some of them stated they could not get in contact with Nadine West customer service. But again, once I had seen the complaints they had all be resolved by Nadine West customer service.

These are the reasons I believe these bad Nadine West reviews are from the early days of the company.
  • I do not see current reviews of people utilizing the company recently that have had these charge issues.
  • Even since the time I began using this company, they have changed their return deadline to allow for several more days to try on the clothes and decide before the return deadline.
  • On the packing slip it specifically states if you need more time to review your items to contact their customer service before the deadline and they would extend the time for you.
  • I have personally contacted their customer service on multiple occasions (two of those because I needed extra review time), and every single time I have had adequate response time, and have experienced super helpful and courteous customer service. I even mention my experience with their customer service in multiple posts of my Nadine West reviews.
  • Points 2 and 3 above are recent changes for the company, so I can see that they are always looking to listen to their customers and improve their practices and policies.

Nadine West Month 2 Review

Nadine West Month 2 Review - PIN ME!

To see my first post, check out Nadine West Month 1 Review. This month I received a total of 6 items. 4 clothing items and 2 pieces of jewelry. I received 2 dresses. Hooray for dresses! And they were both appropriate for the season. That feeling when you see that shiny pink package in your mailbox is definitely still there. As I said before, it’s totally an “it’s Christmas” sort of feeling

So far in these packages I would consider the clothes I’ve received to be boutique style clothing, like those from Jane.com, if you’ve ever shopped that site. I don’t personally have a problem with this. However, I thought it was worth noting.

Dress 1

Red sleevesless dress above the knee. Nadine West Month 2 Review

I took a sneak peak at the packing slip before I opened my package and was excited to see two dresses. Plus, one of them is sleeveless. When I pulled this first dress out I thought it might be perfect for my upcoming trip to Ghana.

The dress is perfect on the top. No gaping arm holes that show my bra under the armpit, and a higher neckline. However, it was not the perfect dress for me or my trip. The dress has a uneven hem line that goes up higher on the sides. The length on the sides is just to high for my personal comfort. So, back this dress will go.

Dress 2

Navy ribbed short sleeve dress above the knee. Key hole neckline

To be honest, when I first pulled this dress out of the tissue paper, I didn’t think I would be showcasing it for you. I decided to try it on for the sake of this review, but that was about it. It wasn’t quite as skin-tight as I expected, however, it is still definitely a no go. I don’t particularly care for this neckline style to begin with. While the dress isn’t quite skin-tight, it definitely is not flattering on my body. And, you can’t see in the picture because I wasn’t comfortable revealing it, but there is a large slit up the front of the other side.

Needless to say, this one is headed back.

Leggings

Navy and light blue tie-die leggings. Nadine West month 2 review

These leggings are a dark navy with a lighter blue tie-die effect. If you remember from my original post, I don’t wear leggings very often. That being said, these leggings are to-die-for comfortable! Seriously, SO SOFT and comfy! However, I am not a fan of tie-die, and since I don’t wear leggings often anyway, these are going back. If they would have been a different print I can almost guarantee I would have kept these because of the comfort level.

T-shirt

I pulled this black t-shirt out of the tissue paper and… OH SO SOFT! Yes, this was a soft shirt again like the one I’d had such a hard time parting with in the first package. And then I unfolded it all the way. And it has football stripes on the sleeves. There’s nothing particularly wrong with football stripes, it’s just not my typical style. Of course

Yes, my daughter wanted in on the picture, and yes she is wearing “play” makeup.

I went ahead and tried it on. And just like I thought… OH SO SOFT! I think perhaps this one was even more soft that the shirt in my previous package. I actually liked the fit of the shirt better than the shirt I sent back in my first package. And, the stripes weren’t bad. Even though it wasn’t my typical style I thought it was cute, but the verdict was still out.

And then I stepped out of the bathroom from changing to my husband who was patiently waiting as my handsome photographer this time around. “Oh you look cute in that. I really like that one,” were the words that came out of his mouth. While I wasn’t surprised that he liked this one (our styles are very different), that’s all it took for me to tip the bucket and decide to keep this one. I mean, why not keep a ridiculously soft shirt that your husband thinks you look cute in? You might be ridiculous not to keep it!

Bracelet

Silver charm bracelet from Nadine West second package

A cute simple charm bracelet. You may notice that I’m not wearing the bracelet in the picture. That would be because I couldn’t fit this particular bracelet around my hand. That combined with the fact that I rarely wear a bracelet means this little gem will head back with the rest. Not so impressed with this one.

Earrings

Nadine West silver flower earrings

I decided to try on the earrings this time since I didn’t the last time. I actually like these earrings on better than I thought I would. They were light which is basically a must with me and earrings. They are not huge, but they are on the bigger side for an earring, which is not unusual to see me wearing larger earrings. And, they’re silver, which is not the only metal I wear, but it is what I wear most often.

However, even though I like them better than I thought I would, they are still a little too “cutsie” for me. And as mentioned in my first review, I have quite a collection of earrings already. If I am going to keep a pair of earrings it is going to have to WOW me. These did not wow. They are headed back.

Summary of my personal Nadine West Review

Out of the 6 items I received, I only ended up keeping one. Honestly that is fine with me. I don’t exactly plan on keeping every single thing in any of the packages. It would have to be a DYNAMITE package with everything I NEED in it for me to be willing to spend that chunk of money on one package. One or two items is perfectly fine with me.

I’m very happy with the shirt I kept. My husband loved it. Also, the fact that I had already paid the $9.95 for shipping that becomes a credit towards anything you purchase definitely had something to do with it. I did have to pay the remaining amount for the shirt ($14), but I just hate losing that $10 I already paid! We’ll see if that gets me every time or not.

This Nadine West subscription service is most likely not something that I will do forever, but for now, I will continue. I am leaving reviews on the items in both of my shipments so far, so I hope that helps my packages begin to be more customized for me. We will see on my review next month, won’t we?!

Follow tips after receiving my first two clothing subscription boxes

  • I was a little worried if I returned everything in the package that I would then be charged the $9.95 shipping fee that was initially free. I did keep one item from my package, so I can’t answer that question for sure, but I am almost positive your first month shipping fee is free. Period.
  • I had seen some complaints from people that were charged the full amount of their package, so I was watching my bank account closely. I was not charged for anything except the dress I kept. After further investigation, it was found that for every single one of those complaints they returned their package AFTER the return date.
  • Look closely at the packing slip that comes with your package. It provides the prices of each article of clothing as well as the return deadline. Make sure your package is post marked by the date listed, and you will have no over charge issues.
  • Their shipping notification system is still fabulous and very precise.
  • So far their customer service has been super fast and helpful in their response.
  • Make sure to leave a review on everything in your package. I did not do this on my first package because I didn’t know where to look, but I have now reviewed all items in packages #1 and #2. I believe this will help my stylist learn my preferred style better. To leave reviews on your items, log in to your Nadine West account, then go to “See Purchases and Shipment History”. Click on the shipment number you want to review, and there you go!
  •  You can receive free shipping on your first package PLUS a $25 credit towards your first purchase by clicking here.

  1. I have never tried a clothing subscription service because I am so picky about my clothes. I am not particularly fashion forward, but comfort is a must. I agree with your husband. That t-shirt is super cute. I would have kept it too.

    1. I don’t know that I would call myself fashion forward, but I do put thought and care into it. However, comfort is super important to me! Some of the dresses and clothes I get the most compliments are are my most comfortable pieces!

    1. I was not familiar with them until a couple of months ago either. I came across an ad of theirs. I had always wanted to try a styling subscription service, and this one seemed to fit in my current budget better, so I’m giving it a try for a while!

  2. These are great pieces and I love seeing the clothes tried on real people -not just models -makes such the difference!!! Will have to look further into Nadine West ~hadn’t heard of them before your post! Thanks for sharing your finds -xoxo, Jess

  3. I hadn’t heard of Nadine West before this post, it seems like they offer a nice variety for any occasion! I like subscription boxes for the sheer fact of never knowing – being forced to try something on that’s “out of my comfort zone”. Thanks for the post!

  4. I really like the black shirt on you, so I’m glad you kept it. It looks really cute! I think I’d prefer a box that’s more like a capsule wardrobe with mix and match pieces. The navy leggings don’t seem to match anything else in your box.

    1. I agree, being able to mix and match is very important, and I’m getting pickier about what goes in my closet. I don’t spend money on it unless I really love it.

  5. Kathleen Flowers

This is my 2nd shipment. I didn’t like anything in the 1st one. This time I received a rose colored top and some pinkish leggings also some hoop earrings. The 2 pink things don’t look good together. I don’t wear leggings they are too clingy. Sending them back. Both look kinda cheap. I want to cancel any more shipments.

    1. I have since decided to switch to Stitch Fix. I am enjoying the shipments and quality much more, and thus I am willing to spend the higher dollar amount on this service. If you would like a link for a discount off your first box for Stitch Fix, please feel free to let me know.

  6. I tried Nadine West for 5 months. It was summer time and they only sent winter items. In the 5 months I only kept 5 items. I live in a very small community in New Mexico. They would email me my package was at my P.O. Box but it would not arrive until 1-2 days later which made my returns always late. The final straw….I canceled my subscription in September and sent back a full order. They refuse to refund my money ($245) saying the order was returned late. Yep that is why I canceled, their return policy is ridiculous as their time line is always behind.

    1. I’m so sorry you had a negative experience with this company. I did have multiple issues with receiving packages late as well. All I would do is send a quick email to their customer service, they would change the return date for me, and I had no issues with being charged. I would agree they need to make some changes with their shipping/returns timelines. And I am so sorry to hear about your refund issue, that’s awful.

  7. This company is straight trash, do not fall for it. It is more than a scam! None of the clothes they send are cute or even match with each other. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY THEY NEED TO BE SUED!

    1. I’m sorry you had that experience! That was not my experience at all with this company. What I’ve shared is my true thoughts and opinions, and I received no payment from this company to write these posts. Just my own thoughts. I have used a few other clothing subscription services as well, and often the clothes that come in each package do not match with each other.

    1. You should contact their customer service. It probably happened during the shipping process, but their customer service has been very helpful to me anytime I’ve needed to contact them.
