Are you looking for some supplemental education for your kids? The summer is a time when many parents want their kids to keep up with at least some educational activities. 

If your kids are on electronics and devices, do you want at least some of it to be educational? 

I’m telling you there are TONS of resources out there. But, sometimes there’s too much. Busy moms don’t have time to weed through everything and basically pull together an at home curriculum. That’s why I’m going to simplify it for you. I’m sharing with you the best educational websites for busy moms. And I’ll let you in on a little secret. There’s only two that I’m going to share about (plus a couple bonuses). These are your one-stop-shop kind of sites. You don’t need anything else. Perfect for the busy mom.

The Best Educational Websites for Busy Moms

The two best educational websites for busy moms also happen to be apps. A big plus in my opinion. Reading, math, history, science, art and music and more! You can get it all in one place. No need for multiple apps or tons of printed papers that will just get thrown away (although I do like printables too). These are fun, engaging, and educational. You’ve probably heard of the first one as it’s very popular, but you many not yet have heard of the second one. So without further ado.

ABCMOUSE

ABCmouse.com is a subscription based website (and now available as an app) to aid kids in learning all the subjects I mentioned above. This is not a free program, but you can have up to three users under one paid account, so if you have multiple kids that’s a huge perk!

Once you set up your account and your children’s users, each child will have their own avatar and their own educational path to go on. At first you can do an assessment to see where your child should start, then the program will start at that spot and gradually increase to different levels, introducing new concepts as you go along. If at any time a level seems to difficult or too easy you can change it. 

This program is extremely interactive and engaging for the kids. Lots of fun and games and songs involved in the learning process. Plus, kids earn tickets for completing activities. The tickets can be redeemed for changing up things on their avatar such as their clothes, as well as adding items to their room, fish tank, hamster cage and pet park. 

It’s not just games the kids play. There is tons of learning and information throughout the entire program presented in an engaging way for the kids. And the information is presented in a lot of different formats to provide for repetition and actual learning from the kids. My kids are a tad older now, but when they were using this program they could not get enough of it. My son continued to say for years that he wished we had ABCMouse, but at that time it only went through kindergarten. Huge plus now is that it goes up through second grade!

In my opinion ABCMouse is well worth the subscription. My kids loved it, and it’s even better now with increased educational levels, more activities, and the ability to use as an app. The subscription is $9.95 per month, but you can try it out for one month entirely FREE! Adventure Academy

Adventure Academy is a newer program from the creators of ABCMouse, and it’s the program that my kids are currently using. It’s similar in idea to ABCMouse, but it’s made for older kids, ages 8-13, and the graphics are great. Many concepts about how the program works are the same as ABCMouse, but created for older children. It is filled to the brim with engaging educational games for the older kids.

The concept is that of a quest. Your child is on a quest, and they receive extra bonus coins when they complete a specified quest, plus coins any time they complete an activity that they can use on their avatar or in their house. There is so much in this program that it feels a tad overwhelming to me, but I just let the kids have at it and I know that they’re learning.

I was super excited to get my hands on this program when it came out because my kids had loved ABCMouse. My kids are ages 7, 10, and 13. I was a little worried it would be too advanced for my 7 year-old, but after just a bit she caught on, and at the earliest level she can complete activities and will learn and grow from there. At this age I believe she would still prefer ABCMouse, but at this point I didn’t want to subscribe to both programs. I think if my 13 year old had started it a year or two ago she would have been more engaged, but at 13 1/2 she does think it’s a little too “kidish” for her. However, as far as learning goes, there are plenty of things she can learn on it.

So again, my kids love the program, and the cost is worth it to me. It is absolutely the one stop shop for supplemental education. Between these two programs I have no issues in saying that they are the best educational websites for busy moms. All you have to do is subscribe and get the accounts set up then let the kids have at it. And maybe you can even get some time for your own reading or a little “me time”.

There are really a ton of options out there when it comes to educational apps, but when it comes to a comprehensive learning system that is great for supplemental education (like in the summer time), the programs from the makers of ABCMouse definitely come out in front.
