I’ll normally do these at the end of every month. However, with Black Friday and Cyber Monday coming up I thought I would go ahead and share now. That way, if you see something that interests you, you can keep your eyes open for good deals. If you’ll look around, there are already tons of companies doing early Black Friday deals, and you can find some steals right now. These are a few of my favorite finds for this November round up.

Graphic Novels

Graphic novels are pretty popular right now. My 10 year old son just discovered them last week. We went to Barnes and Nobles because his older sister had loads of gift cards to spend. My husband told the other two they could each get one book, but it had to be a book. As he was searching, my son came across the Wings of Fire graphic novels, and we decided to let him get one.

And guess what?! He read the entire thing in one sitting! I think it took him a couple of hours from start to finish. It’s basically a comic book you might say. Well, comic book or not, it is reading! My son rarely reads at home unless he’s forced to, and then he doesn’t really enjoy it. The fact that he read for two straight hours is amazing. And, he asked for other graphic novels in the series to be added to his Christmas list. People, he has NEVER asked for a book for a gift in his entire life! So, I call that a win.

The Wings of Fire series is what he’s into right now. And, I’m picking up a Pokemon graphic novel for him because he loves anything Pokemon. However, there are lots of options currently available that even include some classics such as Anne of Green Gables, A Wrinkle in Time, To Kill a Mocking Bird, and the Hobbit.

Side Note

Side note, it’s a good thing my children don’t read my blog. 🙂 You’ll notice that Christmas gifts are on my mind. Have you started your Christmas shopping? Another side note, my mom tells me every year that there is always one person who is super easy to buy gifts for. You just seem to keep finding things they will like (and in my case, usually at a great deal) everywhere you turn.

I would tend to say this has proved to be true in my life. Well this year, my easy person to buy for is my son. This is pretty amazing actually considering he is 1. 10 years old, and 2. a boy. And, I’m pretty sure he’s never been on my “super easy list”. But this year he is, and it makes me extremely happy. I am going to have to use restraint in my shopping!

Handheld Game Console

This season I’ve seen a ton of these. It’s a small handheld game console that comes with 200+ preloaded games (many times retro style). I’m sure this is something that’s been around for a while, but I just noticed them this year. I thought it was something a little fun and unique that my son wouldn’t have even thought to ask for but that he will enjoy.

If you keep your eyes out, you can find them on sale for less than $15. Honestly that’s why I purchased one in the first place. An inexpensive gift that is unexpected and he will thoroughly enjoy. If you have a boy to buy for this Christmas that seems hard to shop for, maybe this could be an option. Something a little different than what he may already have.

Disney +

Have you jumped on the Disney+ bandwagon? What do you think? Do you plan to take the leap? I wasn’t sure at first just because I feel like we have so many other video subscriptions already (although we don’t have cable or satellite TV). I also wanted to check out all of our options because there are a few different subscription offers and specials you can choose. However, my husband jumped the gun and went for it, so now we have it.

To be honest, I’ve enjoyed it more than I thought I might. I just wasn’t sure how much we would use it. My youngest is a fan of the live action Lady and the Tramp watching it multiple times already (I’m kind of a fan myself). We’ve also enjoyed introducing our older children to the Star Wars series. It’s true, they’d never seen them before. We don’t own them so it just never happened. And, it has Muppet Christmas Carol, so I’m officially a fan. 🙂

There are a few different subscription offers, so make sure you check them out. Here are your options:

• Get the Disney+, ESPN Plus, and Hulu (with ads) bundle for $12.99 per month
• If you already have a Hulu account (like those of us that have the Hulu + Spotify bundle) you should be able to register for the Disney Plus bundle ($12.99) using the same email address. Your Hulu account will still be charged separately, but you will receive a credit of $5.99 per month from Disney+. This $5.99 credit should work weather you already have a Hulu with ads or a Hulu ad-free account.

Favorites for the Animals

Animal Water Fountain

These are not gifts, but a few things I found for my animals. We have an extremely friendly (sometimes too much) black goldendoodle and a house cat that is party Siamese. We’ll just say the Siamese is a very dominate trait in her. Both of our pets love running water. Our cat rarely drinks water from her water bowl, but she’ll drink it out of your cup. 😐 Or if she can find slowly running water she really likes that. And our dog likes fresh water and she likes running water the best. See video below. 🙂 If her water becomes “old” she doesn’t drink it much, so we were using a smaller bowl inside. However, it becomes difficult to keep up on making sure she always had water in her bowl.

So, I’d been looking at different water fountains for animals and found one recently that looked decent and was less than $20. Go ahead, laugh, tell me I completely spoil my pets Maybe I do. But, I can do $20, and I want them to always have water available. I’ll just tell you, this has been a great purchase! The fountain has a filter, so they’re always drinking fresh running water (yes they share). And, I only have to refill it every 2-4 days depending on how much they drink. I was a little worried about our doodle making a big mess (refer to video above), but she’s done great. No mess. I highly recommend getting your pets a water fountain.

De-matting Comb

With a goldendoodle comes lots of beautiful hair… that can also get tangled and matted rather easily. I thought I was staying on top of the brushing, and we’d bought a comb that the groomer recommended. And then… the matted hair. She tend to get matted around her collar. It was nearly time for her to go to the groomers, and I DID NOT want her shaved again.

So, I started hunting for a de-matting tool because the comb was not cutting it and was super hard to brush through her hair with. I settled on this Safari by Coastal de-matting comb, and I LOVE IT! It has worked amazing for our doodle, and I would highly recommend it to anyone else looking for a de-matting comb. I will put a disclaimer that our dog loves to get her hair brushed, even if there’s some pulls and tugs. I’m looking forward to having this tool around because now her mats will not get so bad.
