A while back I wrote a post about How to Start Decluttering Your Home. For some basic tips and a little personal inspiration, head on over and check it out. Often times the issue with too much clutter in our homes is not that we don’t recognize we have too much stuff. It’s also not because we are clueless as to how to get rid of some of that stuff. Similar to start an exercise routine or starting anything new, it is the starting that is the most difficult. And that’s why I’ve created the Start the Declutter Challenge.
On February 10-14 I am hosting a FREE 5-day Start the Declutter Challenge, and I am going to do exactly that. I’m going to help you START. Obviously in 5 days we are not going to declutter your entire home, so don’t get overwhelmed thinking this is going to take hours and hours of your day. The goal of this challenge is to make a manageable plan for yourself and actually start that plan. That’s right, we’re not stopping at the “make a plan” part. We are going to take action. I’m going to help you start and provide a space for you to stay accountable.
Whether you’re in the stage of “I’m so overwhelmed I have no idea where to start” or you’re at “I know I need to declutter, I just never have the time”, I can help. Perhaps I’ll be able to provide you with some basic nuggets and tools you didn’t have before. Perhaps you already know what those tools are, you just need a little push to get started (your own personal cheering section doesn’t hurt).
Why Am I Passionate About Decluttering?
Whether we realize it or not, clutter in our homes can bring on the mom overwhelm faster than you can say “I said put that away!” Are there certain rooms in your home you don’t care to be in? Clutter. Are you always feeling overwhelmed with your inability to stay on top of a clean house? Clutter. Do the piles of laundry and toys make you go mad? Clutter. Do you wish for your home to feel more “homey”? Often times it’s clutter that is the culprit there too.
Clutter can zap our joy. It can make us feel tired and overwhelmed. I mean, have you ever come home from a day at work and just looking at an area of your home makes you feel exhausted? Maybe it’s your entire home that gives you those feelings. Maybe it’s just a room or two.

I’m telling you, truly decluttering (not just getting rid of a few things here and there) will make a world of difference. It will help bring some peace and calm. It will help bring some of that joy you’ve been missing. Decluttering will help you stay on top of all that cleaning a little easier (or more likely a lot easier). And most importantly, it will give you more time to spend with your family and be present in their lives.
Join my Start the Declutter Challenge
And that’s why I want you to join me in this Start the Declutter Challenge. I want you to have more peace and joy in your home. I want you to ditch the overwhelm. Most of all I want you to stop having to worry about your home all the time and instead spend that time with your precious kiddos.

I definitely want in on this! We’ve been decluttering all month and it feels so good — but more to go!
Yes, we will love to have you! Make sure to sign up for the free challenge at the top of the post!
Decluttering definitely makes cleaning easier. It also really helps me feel at peace. Even though, I’m pretty good at keeping clutter low at the moment, I signed up for your challenge… Can’t wait!
Awesome, so glad to have you! It really does give you peace, it’s amazing!
I definitely need to start this challenge considering both my work office and my home office are in major need. Great blog!
I’d love to have your join!
Decluttering makes life so much easier. Towards the end of my pregnancy last year I decluttered my home and I felt ten times better.
It can be surprising how something like decluttering your home can make such a difference in life as a whole.
I love doing decluttering because it feels so refreshing getting rid of stuff that no longer is needed leaving free space not only around me but in my mind too. Great post!
Yes, this is so true! It’s not just your home, but it can be surprising what it can do for your mind.
Love the idea of a good de-clutter after all the Christmas present madness 🙂
YES! I worked on some organizing of Christmas gifts just the other day with a little decluttering thrown in. Now I need to do a good de-clutter of my entire home (again).
Decluttering is so much fun! I’ve recently done a giant decluttering of my house and it feels so much better!
I can’t say I’m quite to the “so much fun” mindset yet ha!, but it absolutely makes my home and really my life in general feel so much better.
I really needed to read this because i am the most disorganized person ever. I really learned decluttering makes life 1000 times easier
Janay, I would love to have you join us for the short 5 day challenge! It may give you just the jump start you are needing.
This is such a great idea. I definitely need to declutter but haven’t been able to truly commit to it yet. But good luck to everyone who is going to sign on to the challenge.
I love this! Decluttering has been a huge goal of mine in the last year or so. My hubby especially LOVES to clutter stuff. I finally convinced him to change his ways a little and he has seen started clear it away. Sooo excited!
That is SO exciting to get the husband on board!
I love decluttering! It just makes me feel so much better.
I just decluttered last week, but I’m gonna have to declutter again in a couple of weeks. Sometimes I wonder how we can acquire so much in such a short time.
I have a guest bedroom that isn’t really much of a guest bedroom anymore. It’s more of a storage room. I definitely need to get rid of stuff! Everyone that gets rid of their stuff just ASSUMES that I need it and sends it to me… lol. I need to go through and really declutter and get rid of a lot of stuff!
This is the best time of year to declutter! I love the feeling of extra space and storage!
My son is 9 months old, and it was freeing to go through and put away or give away things that we aren’t using in the “baby to toddler” transition! Decluttering can help you enjoy your home more for sure!
Sounds like a great challenge! i’ve been trying to work on my home office in 15 minute spurts of time, but I really got off track lately!
I love the idea of decluttering.
